IF End of Year 2011
December was an exciting month for IF. We had our first SALT event. SALT events give students the opportunity to make a difference in the community by doing encouraging things for people around them. During exam week we made “goody bags” and gave them away to help encourage students who were in the library studying for their finals. God really blessed our time, and it brought hope to the students we met. Also in December International Friends had their first ever “Show de Talenentos and Christmas Extravaganza.” This was a...

During this fall semester International Friends has been blessed with a group of students who are eager to gather together and spend time with each other. The group of students that God has sent us this semester is different than ever before. The opportunities for God’s glory to be revealed through our relationships are abundant. We have seen God do incredible things thus far, and we are hoping for even more. International Friends has begun a digital media outreach Bible Study this semester called NEWMEO. It is an interactive bible study...

Recently the kids learned the worship song, “In the Secret.” When we met the following week, we talked about what we say to Jesus when we pray (i.e. tell Him that we love Him, thank Him, etc). We encouraged the kids to know that when they worship the Lord, they can express their hearts to Him, just like they do when they pray. The kids, as a group, wrote an original song, to the tune of “In the Secret.” It was a really special time as we got to hear the kids share what was on their heart while they came up with...

“Then said Jesus to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest” Matthew 9:37-38 This past week my visit at Jackson county jail was very encouraging. I met a young man that had previously attended CCC with his mother and sister. There had been a few setbacks in his life and he felt he wanted to get things right with the God who had saved him a few months earlier. Though the other two men in our Bible Study gave no indication of...

This past Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday was our 2nd annual T.E.C. conference, called “Launch 2011“. Our theme this year was “Changed from the inside out” from Romans 12:2. We had a great time with the teens this year. Tuesday and Wednesday meals were provided for the youth at the church. After dinner we had a time to worship and sharing with the youth. God really blessed these times. Jason shared Tuesday night and Pastor Ken shared with the youth the second night. Both nights were really powerful and I know...

We’ve been having a great summer with the teens. This past Saturday we had a car wash to raise funds for upcoming T.E.C. events. We had six teens come out to help. At first we were concerned that it would rain, but God held it off and kept it cool for us! The teens worked really hard and God really blessed us. We washed several cars and people were very generous with their donations. We were blown away by how many people gave us a donation without even getting a carwash. God is good! Much of the funds raised will be...

Almost a year ago I was not sure what was going to happen in Campus Rock or with the small group of students that we still had relationships with. In the course of two semesters God has blessed us tremendously! We have had the blessing and pleasure to get to know some incredible students who really have a heart for the Lord. During the last few weeks of classes we saw God strengthen the desire in the students to see the Campus of WCU change and for people to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. God is blessing and challenging us with Creative...

In the past IF Campus has said good bye to all of our friends in May and welcomed an entirely new group in August. This was mostly true this year as well. May was spent saying good bye and sending the students out to do the next things God has planned for them. This is a good time because, it is amazing to see how God has grown wonderful friendships in such a short period of time. It is also a sad time because we really miss them when they leave. This year is a little different because we have three students that we are very close to...

This Wednesday(April 6) was the 32nd Annual International Festival at WCU. Our purpose was to spend time with our students and to spread HOPE. We brought bottles of water to give freely to our students and to other students that stopped by our table. Each bottle was labeled with either the word “HOPE” or John 4:14 “but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst again”. Pastor Ken gave IF Campus the opportunity to give away the “More Than Enough” food this week. Our leaders and staff passed out the food during the...
